Blocking top-level domains (TLDs)

Blocking top-level domains (TLDs)

To block top-level domains (TLDs) put the extension in without the dot. For example, if you wish to block all .com domains, put in “com” to your black list. Use IDN form for international country code TLDs. For more information on TLDs check them on IANA website.

Filtering Setup

Safe Web Traffic uses a complex scheduling system making it more flexible for various filtering preferences but it then becomes a bit complex to set up.

Each profile has its own settings. You can then turn off the internet at a set time if parents want to limit the kid’s screen time and focus on their school work.

The schedule can also factor in strong filters when children are on the web and apply low settings filters when it is used by adults.

Below are steps on how to set up additional profiles where a schedule will be enabled.

  1. Login to your dashboard
  2. Go to Settings -> Profiles
  3. Create a name for your profile (e.g. for Schedule) and click Add

  1. Click on schedule under settings
  2. You should see the newly created schedule profile at the bottom of the page
  3. Set the time the profile should be active.
  4. Enable work on the schedule button on the top
  5. Then click ‘Save.’

Now, you need to apply this schedule to the network.

If you are setting this up from our DNS agent app installed on your computer, select the create profile and set it as default. Go to settings, profiles, select the desired profile in the list and click the ‘Set’ button.

In case you encounter a problem with the schedule:

Check that the scheduled settings switch is not set at the wrong time.

Check that the time zone applied is correct.  Got to Account, then Person, select the correct time zone and click ‘Save’.

The locking and unlocking are occurring but with a delay.

To eliminate cache issues with DNS queries at the system and browser at which the computer is not responding to the block and unblock services disable automatic control of your browser cache.

The schedule isn’t working at all.

Somehow the schedule is not working

If you’ve done everything possible following the steps above and the issue remains the same, please contact our technical support team.
